Recycle, Repair, and Ride
Budget: $2500

The Recycle, Repair and Ride project goals are to teach students to reduce their carbon footprint through the use of alternative forms of transportation, specifically bicycling.

The Recycle, Repair and Ride program teaches students about alternative forms of transportation and the importance of recycling in an effort to reduce their carbon footprint. These two themes will converge with a project-based learning opportunity where students repair, maintain and eventually earn a bicycle of their own. To ensure the program’s sustainability, the students will develop a community bicycle recycling program where community members can drop off unwanted bicycles that would otherwise be thrown away to be rebuilt or used for spare parts. The creation of this program will give students access to tools and resources to help develop lifelong skills resulting in free bikes to an economically disadvantaged community.
