London, 17 October 2011 – Recyclebank, the company that motivates people to take everyday green actions by rewarding green behaviour with exclusive offers is working with Transport for London (TfL) to reward people for cycling and walking in London.

The new ground-breaking programme will incentivise people to cycle or walk in the capital, to help reduce pollution, ease congestion and boost fitness among Londoners. Members will collect points for every journey they make by bike or on foot which will be redeemable against a growing range of offers and discounts from Recyclebank reward partners such as Marks & Spencer.

A panel of users will be recruited in late 2011 to test the programme prior to launch which is scheduled for Spring 2012. The scheme will be delivered at no cost to Transport for London. It will be free to join and anyone who cycles or walks in the capital can become a member.

“We’re absolutely delighted to be supported by TfL on this project,” said Rob Crumbie, director of marketing and communications at Recyclebank. “It has the potential to be a huge initiative which will complement the excellent work TfL has been doing to encourage more people to cycle and walk in London. We are confident our plans for transport will result in even more people cycling and walking. Central to this success will be the successful recruitment of new brand and retail reward partners to the scheme, so we want to hear from both local and national businesses who are interested.”

About the programme Ben Plowden, Director, Better Routes and Places at TfL said: "There has never been a better time to walk or ride a bike in London thanks to the hard work of the Mayor of London and TfL to build and improve public paths and parks, and the many other initiatives that make up the Mayor's cycling revolution. Walking and cycling are the healthiest and greenest ways to travel and already on the increase in the capital but we want to encourage even more people to take it up and consider it for their every day journeys, which is why we are delighted to be supporting the Recyclebank rewards programme.”
