Rewards Program Offers Residents Incentive to Recycle with Amazing Results

New York, NY (October 2, 2008)—Recyclebank®, the premier recycling rewards program, has joined forces with Allied Waste Services to dramatically increase household recycling rates in Eden Prairie, MN. In July 2008, Allied Waste and RecyleBank announced a strategic national partnership to reward households for recycling. Eden Prairie residents are the first to experience the partnership, with over 6,500 currently signed up to participate and expansion plans to include 125,000 more customers across the Twin Cities Metro Area over the next several months.

Recyclebank’s valuable incentive program enables households to earn rewards in the form of Recyclebank Points for recycling. Similar to frequent flyer programs, the more households recycle, the more Points they earn. Households can redeem Recyclebank Points for groceries, gift cards and much more at over 400 brand name national and local retailers across the country. Participating retailers include Dick’s Sporting Goods, CVS Pharmacy, Bed Bath & Beyond, Coca-Cola, Dunkin’ Donuts, Kraft Foods and, as well as local Eden Prairie retailers, including Cub Foods, Punch Pizza, Anytime Fitness, Facelogic Spa, Lewis Drug, and KidCreate Studio. Participants can also convert their rewards into donations for select charitable organizations, local school programs and hundreds of non-profits. To date, more than 100 million Recyclebank Points have been awarded, with families earning, on average, between $200 and $300 in reward value annually.

“By matching our national reach and state-of-the-art recycling centers with Recyclebank’s creative incentive program, we create a great opportunity that can benefit millions of customers, the participating retailers and, ultimately, the environment,” said Jay Leyden, Senior Vice President, Customer Development, Allied Waste. “We are thrilled to kick off our national partnership in Eden Prairie and offer our customers a meaningful rewards program, especially during these tough economic times.”

By encouraging households to recycle with the added incentive of Recyclebank rewards, Allied Waste collects more recyclables, reducing waste otherwise destined for landfills. The program is Single-Sort, which means that households will recycle everything in the same cart. Thanks to innovative advances made by Allied Waste, the program will accept an unprecedented list of recyclable materials that can all be mixed together inside the cart.

”Recyclebank’s mission is to get everyone, everywhere to recycle,” said Ron Gonen, co-founder and CEO of Recyclebank. “We are proud to partner nationally with Allied Waste and bring the residents in the Twin Cities Metro Area an environmental solution with great economic value.”

Recyclebank currently services over 150,000 homes in 12 states, with a national rollout planned for 2009. By recycling, those households collectively have saved over 33 million gallons of oil and over 500,000 trees.

The first Recyclebank pick-up for Eden Prairie residents will begin the week of October 13. To officially launch the Recyclebank program in the Twin City Metro Area, Recyclebank and Allied Waste will host a weekend long event at the Mall of America on November 20.
