New York City, NY - December 16, 2008 - Recyclebank and the cities of Everett and Revere, MA, announced today that residential recycling rates have increased by over 100% after implementing the Recyclebank Rewards program. The city of Everett launched the Recyclebank pilot program in February 2008 in 3,200 homes. During the 22-week pilot program, the amount of material recycled rose 350%, saving the city over $15,000 in landfill fees and prompting citywide expansion in July 2008.

" Recyclebank has proven to be an overwhelming success in Everett. We have already exceeded our initial goal of recycling 700 pounds of material per household per year," said Mr. Jon Norton, Recycling Coordinator for Everett. "Most rewarding is to see residents enthusiastic about participating, redeeming their rewards and working toward a more sustainable environment."

In August 2008, Revere launched the Recyclebank pilot program in approximately 3,100 participating households. In just 12 weeks, local recycling rates have grown from an average of 214 pounds per home per year to 442 pounds per home per year, saving the city over $9,570 in waste diversion costs.

"Revere has already begun reaping the rewards of its Recyclebank relationship. Not only have we seen impressive increases in local recycling rates, but the city has saved money as well," said Mayor Thomas Ambrosino of Revere. "Partnering with Recyclebank has provided the residents of Revere with an innovative way to become better stewards of the environment. It's especially wonderful to offer these rewards for our local businesses and savings to our residents."

Recyclebank motivates households and communities to recycle by measuring the amount of recyclables from each household and then converting the weight into Recyclebank Points. These Points can be viewed and redeemed at with over 950 national and local Recyclebank Reward Partners.

Participating households redeem their Recyclebank Points with national Recyclebank Reward Partners such as Coca-Cola, Kraft Foods, Green Mountain Coffee, and CVS/pharmacy, as well as with local retailers such as Elm Street Bakery, Eagle Bank, Vin's Auto Service, and Lions Tap. Local and national retailers recognize the value of partnering with an environmentally-friendly company such as Recyclebank. Reward Partners gain exposure in the marketplace, which leads to customer loyalty and repeat business, a particularly enticing incentive in this economy. Additionally, households recognize the value of shopping with retailers that believe in the importance of environmental initiatives and community.

"Everett and Revere are two great examples of Recyclebank's mission in action," said Ron Gonen, co-founder and CEO of Recyclebank. "Recyclebank brings residents environmental solutions with direct economic benefits, while helping municipalities recycle to their fullest potential."

Recyclebank services households in 15 states with plans for a national rollout in 2009. To date, Recyclebank households have collectively diverted over 60,000 tons of waste from landfills, saving over 40 million gallons of oil and more than 601,763 trees.
