RecycleBank and Allied Waste Team Up to Increase Recycling Volumes in Chaska, Minn.

New York (April 30, 2009) — Recyclebank®, the premier recycling rewards program, has joined forces with Allied Waste Services to increase household recycling rates in Chaska, Minn. Chaska joins the growing number of Twin Cities communities to adopt Recyclebank, which includes Chanhassen, Eden Prairie, Maple Grove, St. Cloud, and St. Joseph.

Recyclebank’s valuable incentive program enables households to earn rewards in the form of Recyclebank Points for recycling. Similar to frequent flyer programs, the more a household recycles, the more Points they earn. Households can redeem Recyclebank Points for groceries, gift cards and much more at more than 1,400 brand-name national and local retailers across the country. Participating retailers include CVS/pharmacy, Dial, Kraft Foods, Dole, and Target.com, as well as local retailers, including Cub Foods, Davanni's Pizza, Erik's Bike Shops, and Goodwill Stores. Participants can also convert their rewards into donations for select charitable organizations, local school environmental programs, and non-profit organizations. On average, active Recyclebank recycling households can earn approximately $20 per month in reward value for their recycling efforts.

“Our customers have truly enjoyed reaping the rewards that Recyclebank offers,” Allied Waste Services Twin Cities Area Municipal Services Manager Rich Hirstein said. “With today’s stressed economic times, they’ve said it’s nice to get unique discounts on things they readily purchase. Plus, it’s nice to be rewarded for doing something good.”

By encouraging households to recycle with the added incentive of Recyclebank rewards, Allied Waste Services collects more recyclables, reducing waste otherwise destined for disposal. The single-sort program means that households can place all acceptable recycling material in the same cart—no sorting required.

“We’re proud that Recyclebank continues to resonate and connect with the citizens of Minnesota,” said Ron Gonen, co-founder and CEO of Recyclebank. “Working with Allied Waste, we are able to offer meaningful value to the residents of Chaska, proving that environmental solutions can—and do—offer great economic value.”

Recyclebank currently services households across 18 states. By cumulative recycling efforts, those households collectively have saved more than 95 million gallons of oil and over 1.5 million trees.

ABOUT RECYCLEBANK
Recyclebank is a rewards program that motivates people to recycle. We do this by quickly and easily measuring the amount of material each home recycles and then converting that activity into Recyclebank Points that can be used at hundreds of local and national rewards partners. Recyclebank is simple to implement, market-driven, and proven to work; saving municipalities’ money and rewarding citizens for their environmental stewardship. Kleiner, Perkins, Caulfield and Byers, RRE Ventures, The Westly Group and Sigma Partners are institutional shareholders. Ron Gonen, the co-founder and CEO, is the largest individual shareholder. Recyclebank is headquartered in New York City.
