NEW YORK—JUNE 21, 2012—Recyclebank®, the company that rewards people for taking everyday green actions with discounts and deals from local and national businesses, has been named to Sustainia100 for its continued work to help build a more sustainable future. Gathered from 56 countries spread over six continents, Sustainia100 is a pool of 100 powerful sustainability solutions, including great ideas, innovations and technologies that are instrumental in creating sustainable societies. All winning solutions are currently available, scalable, collaborative, transformative, cost effective, have environmental impact and increase the quality of life.

The announcement of the Sustania100 was held earlier this week in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil at the Rio+20, United Nations Conference on Sustainability which brings together world leaders, governments, NGO’s and the private sector to discuss how to reduce poverty, advance social equity and ensure environmental protection.

“We are deeply honored to be recognized by such a prestigious organization as one of the top sustainable solutions in the world,” said Ian Yolles, chief sustainability officer, Recyclebank. “Our mission is to motivate individuals and communities to realize a world in which nothing is wasted, inspiring people to make greener choices everyday that collectively have an impact on our planet. It’s extremely humbling to have our model be gratified on a global scale and we hope it will inspire communities and organizations on all corners of this earth to continue to seek out and create innovative solutions for building a more sustainable future.”

The Sustania100 list was compiled through a public call for solutions and narrowed down by a committee which includes former Governor of California Arnold Schwarzenegger, EU Commissioner Connie Hedegaard, IPCC chairman Dr. Rajendra Pachauri and former Prime Minister of Norway, Gro Harlem Brundland.
