NEW YORK CITY—TUESDAY, OCTOBER 4, 2011—Recyclebank®, the company that rewards people for taking everyday green actions with discounts and deals from local and national businesses, today announced recognition from three prestigious award programs. The company has been named a finalist by both the World Technology Awards in the environment category and the Katerva Awards in the economy category, as well as a second consecutive inclusion in the AlwaysOn GoingGreen Global 200 in the resource recovery and waste management category. All three recognitions further validate Recyclebank’s innovative approach to sustainability, fueling its mission to realize a world without waste by engaging consumers, companies and local communities to make a significant environmental impact.

“At Recyclebank, we strive to innovate new ways to collaborate with our partners and members to rethink the consumption cycle so that we not only eliminate waste but also create a mutually beneficial business model of profitability,” said Jonathan Hsu, CEO at Recyclebank. “We are honored to be recognized by so many distinguished organizations and judges and see this as a wonderful affirmation of our mission to motivate individuals to make small, green lifestyle changes in order make a collective difference for our planet.”

Presented by the World Technology Network in association with TIME, Fortune, CNN, Science/AAAS and Technology Review, the 2011 World Technology Awards recognize a roster of organizations and individuals from more than 60 countries around the world deemed to be doing the most innovative and impactful work. As a finalist in the environment category, Recyclebank was selected through an intensive, global process over the course of several months by prominent advisors including futurist and author Ray Kurzweil, TIME editor and author Lev Grossman and more.

“This year we are more eager than ever to pay tribute to the talent and innovation of our individual and corporate honorees,” said James P. Clark, founder and chairman of the World Technology Network. “Through the peer-nomination and peer-review process, we uncover the best of the best of the best in science and technology. We discover whose work is going to have the greatest likely impact over time.”

In its inaugural year, the Katerva Awards seek to identify the most promising new ideas for the planet as a means to accelerate their impact to a global scale. As a finalist in the economy category, Recyclebank will be evaluated by a distinguished set of experts, including Matthew Gardner of Sustainserv and renowned author Art Kleiner, for the “Best Sustainability Idea of the Year” set to be announced later this year.

With its second consecutive recognition by AlwaysOn’s GoingGreen list, Recyclebank is among the top 200 private companies that are transforming the world into a more efficient and environmentally friendly place, while at the same time creating a high-growth business attractive to investors. The AlwaysOn editorial team, along with partners at Morgan Stanley, SAP, KPMG, Hewlett-Packard, Goldman Sachs, Technology Partners, Bridge Bank, Sheppard Mullin, Silicon Valley Bank, NEA and industry experts across the globe, scoured the entrepreneurial community to identify this year’s impressive list.

Recyclebank helps create a more sustainable future by rewarding people for taking everyday green actions with discounts and deals from more than 3,000 local and national businesses.
