NEW YORK—WEDNESDAY, JAN. 19, 2011—Samantha Skey, chief revenue officer at RecycleBank®, the leading social connection and engagement platform that motivates individuals to take positive environmental actions, will participate in a panel, “To Redeem, or not to Redeem: Designing Scalable Point Systems that Engage and Excite,” at this year’s Gamification Summit. In its inaugural year, the Gamification Summit will convene an elite group of thought leaders and industry professionals who are reimagining how we engage digital audiences through innovative gaming mechanics and user experiences. Skey and her fellow panelists will examine best practices and potential pitfalls involved in creating a virtual currency, employing creative points, rewards structures and new methods to motivate collective action.

“Combining gaming dynamics to positive green actions has an enormous impact on consumer behavior,” said Skey. “Our quickly growing community is motivated not only by the rewards from our partners, but also by the collective impact that individual actions have on local communities and the environment.”

During the session, Skey will share insight into incorporating gaming into your marketing practices to motivate online and offline action. In her role with RecycleBank, Skey works with brand partners such as General Mills, Johnson & Johnson and The Coca-Cola Company® to create marketing campaigns that both engage and inspire consumers to take steps towards a more sustainable lifestyle. Skey has been a key evangelist in rapidly expanding RecycleBank’s digital platform, which includes launching a new online community on at February 1, gamifying the RecycleBank consumer experience, and scaling the company’s reward programs—such as the RecycleBank Learn & Earn and Points for Planet platforms—to engage a global audience.
