WB Saul High School of Agricultural Sciences

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Recycling Education and Practice
Budget: $2500

WB Saul High School of Agricultural Sciences is an urban, magnet high school serving 550 students, ages 14-18, in the Roxborough section of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. We are challenged to appropriately and effectively recycle both paper and products capable of entering Philadelphia’s single-stream recycling program.

Our Green Plan: The 'Recycling Receptacle Project' will empower youth at Saul by allowing students to become a piece of a positive solution to an environmental issue. With appropriate receptacles, the AgroEcology class will be able to collect and monitor each classroom’s waste and their subsequent appropriate disposal. The students will know they have succeeded in instituting and educating the teachers, staff, and students on how to properly recycle by comparing pre- and- post recycling collection data.
