Recycling is Rewarding in Philadelphia!

Mayor Nutter and the City of Philadelphia want you and your neighbors to earn valuable rewards for your recycling efforts. The exciting Philadelphia Recycling Rewards program, powered by RecycleBank, launched in 2010 and is expanding by neighborhood through July 2010. You can earn 100 bonus RecycleBank Points if you sign up now through June 30th !

How do I sign up and get my 100 RecycleBank Points?

  1. Click on the “Get Started Now” button on the top of the page.
  2. Fill out the online registration form to open a RecycleBank account before June 30th, 2010.
  3. The 100 RecycleBank Points will automatically be deposited into your account.

How do I earn RecycleBank Points for recycling?

  1. Once you register your account, you will receive a sticker in the mail that is linked to your residence address (stickers will be mailed out starting in January 2010).
  2. Place the sticker on your primary recycling container according to the instructions on the back of the sticker.
  3. The trucks that pick up your recycling will register that your home recycled and RecycleBank Points will automatically be deposited into your account. The point total will be based on how much your neighborhood has recycled. You will also get RecycleBank Points by reducing the amount of trash that goes into the landfill. This saves the city money and they want to pass some of that benefit along to you.

When will I see RecycleBank Points deposited in my accounts?

  1. Philadelphia Recycling Rewards has a rolling start date by collection area across the city. It began Feb. 2010, and by July the entire City will be taking part! To find out when your neighborhood is scheduled to start, click here to see the map or go to www.phillyrecyclingpays.com for more details.
  2. Once you register for your account, your initial bonus points are immediately deposited into your account.
  3. After your neighborhood’s start date, you can start earning additional points for your curbside recycling. The trucks that pick up your recycling will register that your home recycled and RecycleBank Points will be deposited into your account within a 3 week cycle of your recycling pickup. The point total will be based on how much your neighborhood has recycled.
  4. Don’t forget: You can also earn RecycleBank Points by reducing the amount of trash that goes into the landfill. These points will be deposited into your account on a monthly basis.
